Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. - Nearly 50 people from the Spokane community stood across Highway 2 outside of the Fairchild Air Force Base main gate waiving flags and signs to greet National Guard members as they arrived for duty on November 2, 2007.
The event was lead by Operation Spokane Heroes, a cooperative partnership of organizations throughout the Spokane area. Other organizations that attended event were the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, and the Patriot Guard, a part of the American Legion.
The first person arrived at 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning to honor Citizen Airman of the 141st Air Refueling Wing for their continued service around the world, by waiving an American Flag for them as they entered the base.
"I truly appreciate the support of all the people who came out Saturday morning and braved the cold weather to support us as we arrived for our weekend training," said Colonel Bulkley, 141st Air Refueling Wing Commander.
